Speed Up Your Round With Drag-Cart Golf

July 18, 2014 | By Chris Chirico | 2 Comments

Imagine having this thing out on the golf course?
Imagine having this thing out on the golf course?

There has been a couple of times now when we’ve shown you some pimped out golf carts.  Be it Mustangs and Hummers or rim sportin’ and system bumpin’ rides.  Most recently it was a few golf cart replicas of famous rides from TV.  But remember back when we were kids riding in golf carts?  What were we interested in then?  How fast could the cart go, right?

Some of us new that guy who could lift the seat, make a few adjustments and just like that, the cart would go faster.  But it was never quite fast enough, was it?  Well, let me introduce you to a man who has quickly become the hero of our childhood, souped-up golf cart dreams.

Ladies and gentlemen, your hero…Mr. Terry Hatfield…

Just to give you an idea what’s going on here, this is still all electric.  He did not swap this out for a gas engine.  That is 1/8th of a mile covered in just a hair under 6.6 seconds at 97+ MPH.  97!!  We’re talking sports car quickness out of an electric golf-cart here.  As a point of reference, the new Camaro Z28 covers 1/4 mile in 12.7 seconds.  So it stands to reason, over a 1/4 mile race, this golf cart hangs only slightly behind one of the most desirable American made muscle cars in recent memory.  Now that, friends, is a true golf innovation and most certainly worthy of Golfstinks: Pimp My Golf Cart Edition.  Plus, imagine how much the speed of an 18-hole round would increase?  Four hours?  Ha!  How about 45 minutes?!

Swing ’til you’re happy!

Pimp My Golf Cart: TV Edition

June 27, 2014 | By Pete Girotto | 1 Comment

Yes, I’m pretty sure we’re well aware that pimpin’ ain’t easy. This is why we resort to another form of pimping (that of which is legal and…you know, it’s kind of funny to be discussing pimping and golf in the same post).

Moving on, this installment is focused on those TV shows most of us grew up on. Some of you younger hacks might not recognize these golf carts and no, there isn’t an app to help you. So, once again we pay homage to the hard work and creativity of these fine rides. Enjoy!

Golfcart Flintstones
If I had to guess, I’d say Fred and the gang prefer Pebble Beach…ba dum!
Golfcart general lee 2
After a long week of outrunning Rosco P. Coltrane, the good ol’ boys like to enjoy a nice quiet round at Hazzard CC.
Golfcart Knight Rider
If Kitt could help Michael on the course like he did in the show, the Hoff would be on the tour instead of singing his way through Germany.
Golfcart Mystery machine
“Zoinks Scoob, I left my putter home!” “Ruh roh!”
Golfcart Batman
Holy Triple Bogey Batman!

Hit’em long…yell FORE!!!

Chip Shots: Unconventional Exercise Golf.

September 4, 2012 | By Tom Treloar | Leave a Comment

golfstinks, golf stinks

So in my previous post, I talked about backups on the tee causing long rounds. And we here at Golfstinks have also touched on exercising as it relates to golf and golfing eco-friendly.

That being said, I would like to intertwine these three things. Instead of using gas riding carts, which do not provide much exercise, maybe golfers should use mountain bikes? This could help the environment and also provide a workout as well.

Thoughts?

Pimp My Golf Cart (Redux)

Back in November of ’09, I posted Pimp My Golf Cart. Now, due to positive feedback and emails about how ya’ll really dug the post and the golf carts in it; here’s another helping of tricked-out, rim-sportin’, system-bumpin’ club cars for your viewing pleasure!

It just amazes me the levels of customization people will take their golf carts to. The more I search around the more I am impressed with the craftsmanship and creativity that goes into building these carts. It’s as if there’s an underground community of custom golf cart aficionados. If you think about it, this could open-up a whole new demographic of people that may have never really had much exposure to golf. Who knows, maybe the person that installed the 50,000-watt stereo system in the E-Z GO could become a fellow weekend hack. And to think, all because a golf cart piqued their curiosity.

I’ve seen some pretty crazy modifications done to golf carts that range from Louis Vuitton or Gucci leather seats, to lift kits that rival a monster truck. All in all, these custom carts might not appeal to every golfer, but it definitely brings a uniqueness and flair to the sport. Regardless, even if they are never used on the course, they still carry the name; Golf Cart.

Total Recall: Danger Comes To The Golf World

February 15, 2010 | By Chris Chirico | 1 Comment

What is the world coming to? Toyota and Honda screwing up their cars? The two companies commonly referred to as building the most reliable cars are dropping the ball? What’s next? Snow in July?! Health insurance companies dropping their rates?! The Yankees slash payroll?! Dogs and cats living together…mass hysteria!!

The fact is, there are recalls every month. And eventually, there are recalls on seemingly just about every car manufactured. Maybe your car isn’t one of them. Maybe you’ve already had the recall taken care of. Well, don’t feel too safe yet my friends. You see, the recalls extend a bit farther than your local roads and highways. It seems you may be in just as much danger on your local cartpaths and fairways.

Everyone knows the cart company E-Z-GO. But how many were aware of the recall on their RXV golf carts? There have been 20 reports of the hip restraints breaking. Nine of these instances resulted in broken bones and abrasions from falling out of the cart! Something tells me though, if you’re cutting the wheel on your golf cart hard enough to create enough pressure on that hip restraint for it to break, it’s not because you noticed you just drove past your ball. It’s more likely because you’re doing a little stunt driving down the hill on the 13th hole.

Have you ever seen one of these:
Segway golf transporterWell if you do….RUN!!! This is the Segway Golf Transporter GT, and it can be dangerous! This model, along with several others can unexpectedly apply reverse torque to the wheels causing the rider to fall off. However, I have recently come up with a quick fix to this problem allowing one to avoid the recall issue altogether. If you see a fellow golfer using one of these, quickly approach them and warn them they look like a complete idiot riding this thing. Also mention they are fueling the stereotypical fire of golfers not being athletes. If you find that you are the person who is riding this on the course? Consider this your warning – You look like a complete idiot.

The recalls extend even further outside of the transportation products. Have you ever tried one of these:
10th Tee Peanut Honey Back Nine Golf Energy BarThis is the 10th Tee Peanut Honey Back Nine Golf Energy Bar. If you did try one, did you feel a little queasy afterward? Well, that may be…SALMONELLA!! Either that, or you’re just out of breath from asking for one. I’ll tell you what makes me queasy….standing in line behind the guy who is ordering a 10th Tee Peanut Honey Back Nine Golf Energy Bar. In the time it took to order a 10th Tee Peanut Honey Back Nine Golf Energy Bar, I could have finished the back nine! Really, who at this company works in the product naming department? Who’s the guy that thought 10th Tee Peanut Honey Back Nine Golf Energy Bar is a good name? Yeah, if I have the choice between the 10th Tee Peanut Honey Back Nine Golf Energy Bar and the candy bar next to it, am I going to order the 10th Tee Peanut Honey Back Nine Golf Energy Bar? Forget salmonella, and I know it’s probably better for me than a candy bar, but I won’t order a 10th Tee Peanut Honey Back Nine Golf Energy Bar just on principle! Besides, what jackass eats a 10th Tee Peanut Honey Back Nine Golf Energy Bar anyway? Is it somehow created for just golfers? Does it do more for golfers than another energy bar with a shorter name? Are you that much of a slave to marketing? You need to eat a 10th Tee Peanut Honey Back Nine Golf Energy Bar just to order one!

Just like the rest of the products in any industry in the world today, recalls extend to the golf industry as well. Automobiles, baby cribs, paint….and now golf carts. Danger surrounds us at every turn. This is just a small sampling of the perils us golfers face today. I’m sure there are more, but I’m just too out of energy to further research and blog about them. Maybe I’ll head over to Staples and see if I can pick up a box of 1st Laptop Chocolate Peanut Butter Fourth Paragraph Blog Energy Bars.
