Recently, I was speaking with someone that said they quit golfing. I’m thinking “How do you quit golf?” The short answer, you don’t. Basically, golf has a beginning, an extremely long middle and no end. It’s a life long affair with some hiatus’ thrown into the mix.
There’s a 99% chance that the person I spoke with will find themselves back on the course. After discussing his “quitting”, the reasoning was based on frustration of poor play which is why I’m confident he will be playing again soon. Not to compare golf to drugs but, you see the point. Once you get a taste, it’s a wrap!
People take up golf for various reasons. Whether it’s something you picked up as a kid because our father, uncle, mother, older sibling or whoever introduced it to us or you have retired and need to do something. Whatever it may be, once we start it’s with us for the rest of our life. That’s a good thing!
What I’m trying to say here is there is no life after golf. Golf is a part of our lives. For many of us hacks out there, we shared a lot of good memories on the course and that alone will keep us coming back, not to mention the one great shot we keep replaying in our minds in an effort to hopefully do again and again. Not for nothing what would we do if we quit golf? I know, take up golf!
Hit’em long…yell FORE!!!
