When I was younger my mother used to tell me not to skimp on certain stuff especially when it came to my health and my body. It doesn’t necessarily mean you have to drop a fortune to do so, just make sure the quality is good. So for example and as weird as it may sound, she said don’t be cheap when it comes to a bed or shoes. These are important in our everyday performance and a lot of times we take it for granted.
It makes sense when you think about it. Sleeping well has a 100% positive effect on our productivity and output levels. Now that we are all rested up the next important thing is our feet, more so our shoes that will take us through the day. In golf especially, a good comfortable pair of shoes can make all the difference. Companies like Footjoy pride themselves on this. Take a look at some golf shoes from the leading brand and while you’re at it, the great range of Footjoy clothing too.
Some of my friends still don’t understand the concept of buying quality proper fitting golf equipment. One of my buddies wears a size 9 shoe but bought a pair of some size 8.5 off brand discount specials because they were $25. He swears they were a deal and at the same time he swears up and down because his feet hurt after a round but blames it on a “bone spur”. The same “bone spur” that only occurs after golfing. Boy, what a coincidence.
The older and wiser I get (or so I think), the more I appreciate the lessons and values my mother instilled. As Thanksgiving approaches and we begin to think about what we are thankful for, I have to say I am thankful that my mother’s advice improved my golf game and she never swung a club nor stepped foot on a course.
Hit’em long…yell FORE!!! Thanks Mom!
