Should A Caddie Get A Jacket Too?

September 28, 2015 | By Pete Girotto | Leave a Comment

caddieWith golf participation being roughly between 25 – 30 million players in the U.S., it’s probably pretty fair to state that a very low percentage of this number have or use a caddy. Pretty much pros on tour. We can argue private clubs too but they are technically considered “independent contractors” (not to get overly p.c.).

Moving forward with the tour caddie…These select few people that make it to this level do so because they take their trade seriously. Their advice and research could be the difference of where a pro ends up on the money list. Not to mention it’ll help pad their pockets as well.

What kind of recognition do these guys get besides their pay and a little notoriety if the golfer is very famous? I think there should be something for the caddie as well. They are pretty much a golfer’s advisor/friend/coach/therapist while on the course.

Maybe a jacket is a little bit of a stretch but jeez, give the guy something. A vest, sash, beret, pin…something. Apparently, there is a caddie hall of fame but if I’m not mistaken Bill Murray has been inducted for his role in Caddyshack. Great movie and all but, come on! How about a little time to shine for the folks on the bag.

Bringing The Rukket Back To The Hood.

Haack Net
Your hack golf days might be soon behind you with this practice net…

A couple months back we took a look at Rukket Sports’ Chipping Net & Range Marker Target. This time around I got to break out the big dog and smash it into their Rukket Haack Golf Net.

We can thank Rukket Sports and college golf coach Chris Haack for spawning this wonderful creation. A portable, lightweight, very well made (wouldn’t expect anything less) golf net perfect for a little backyard swing session.

Whether you grip n’ rip like a pro or like you got two left hands, this ball catcher is key to keeping you loose and moving when you’re off the course. Don’t let the picture fool you. This net weighs in at 10ft H x 7ft W x 3ft D. Couple that with a quick set up and break down and it’s a no-brainer.

I know what you’re thinking, a golf coach named Haack. Let me tell you, this guy has turned out some Tour winners like, oh I don’t know, Bubba Watson. He must be doing something right and so should you.

Head on over to Rukket Sports and get yourself one of these and you’ll be breaking 80 in no time…80 windows, 80 clubs. All jokes aside, this is a great addition to helping improve your golf game.

Hit’em long…yell FORE!!!

A Belt Brings It All Together

July 31, 2015 | By Pete Girotto | 1 Comment

Trakline-Belts
This belt from Kore Essentials can be worn on and off the golf course

From fashion to athletics something as simple as a belt can spark the competitive spirit. In the eyes of a boxer, a belt defines their career and potentially seats them in the annals of sports history. In the fashion sense, a belt can make or break your ensemble. With that in mind, the reality is that you just have to go for it.

That’s the key. Going for it and being a little different. Taking risks and putting yourself outside of your comfort zone. Now, speaking of being different, going for it and referring back to the belt thing, Kore Essentials has quite the innovative accessory with their Trakline belts.

Let me just say it’s probably the best belt I’ve ever worn and thank you Kore Essentials for supplying the belt! In fact, I have taken it off the course and implemented it into daily rotation. The combination of great design and high quality craftsmanship has me sold. The hidden track system sewn into the inside of the belt works flawlessly. Also, it gives about 40 or so 1/4″ increments of sizing in comparison to the handful of holes found on standard belts. Confused? Click on the pic above for a video (after reading the rest of this post of course).

As a bonus, all the belt buckles and belts can easily be swapped with each other. Plus, you can use the undercarriage of the belt buckle to pop the top on your favorite frosty libation. Seriously, I’m not kidding. It even says so on the website. Can I say bonus? Now, head on over to Kore Essentials and treat yourself.

Golf…Under The Tuscan Sun

July 3, 2015 | By Pete Girotto | 1 Comment

golf tuscanyNow that summer is here we can focus on the important stuff – golf and vacation! Whether it’s a trip to the shore for a couple days or to the other side of the world, the good news is that there’s probably a  course  not that far away. As golf has developed and grown in popularity you would surprised as to where you would find a golf course.

A few months ago I had the opportunity to travel to Italy for a couple weeks and wouldn’t you know it, I actually saw a couple golf courses. It’s not something I would normally think when in the Florence area. You know, the statue of David, the Duomo, the Tuscan Hills …Golf Club Toscana Il Pelagone. What a great golf holiday!

Now, here’s another little something to think about when doing a little golf travel in Italy: The 19th hole. Man, that has got to be some of the best food you will ever come across at a club house. The heck with the hot dog and soda, I’ll take the Bistecca Fiorentina (an oversized aged porterhouse) paired with a nice glass of Brunello…fuhgeddaboutit!

That’s it, time to save up for another trip. And by the way, to all us hacks out there, you don’t have to be good to play good courses, anywhere.

Our Favorite Backyard Practice Range

June 3, 2015 | By Pete Girotto | Leave a Comment

rukket 1How cool is it to be able to work on your short game at home? Whether you are an avid golfer, weekend hack or an I-play-once-a-year-at-a-tournament-to-get-drunk participant, we got something for you. Part of enjoying the game is playing it and having a decent round, right? And how do you go about shooting a decent round…practice!

So, the kind people at Rukket Sports were gracious enough to send us their Chipping Net and Range Marker. This is the sort of thing every golfer at every level should have. As long as you have a little space in your yard to chip, you’re good to go. Not to mention it is well constructed, priced right and folds up for easy storage.

As seen in the photo above, the net serves as a…you guessed it, chipping target. Let’s say you want to work on shorter irons. No problem, flip this bad boy over and voila, it’s a range marker that can mark 50, 100 or 150 yards. A perfect gift for the old man with Father’s Day just around the corner.

As always, we like to give away what we try out. I mean, it’s only fair. Check back on our Facebook page at the end of this week for a chance to win one of these practice nets. If you can’t wait for the contest, I highly advise you go get one pronto and bring the Rukket to your hood!
