Too Cold To Golf…

December 10, 2010 | By Pete Girotto | 3 Comments

That’s right, up here in the Northeast winter time means no more golf for a few months. So, what I do is the next the best thing – surf the web! Actually, a few months back, John Jones, a friend of Golfstinks.com posted a video of a pretty cool golf shot he made. Check it out:

And to back it up, here’s another:

Pretty impressive there Johnny Boy! Any of you guys out there got something worth watching (such as these) post the link in the comment section.

Hit’em long…yell….SWISH?!?!

Never too cold to golf is it? The real problem I’m having right now is snow! I live by the Candian border in Sheldon VT. After all the other courses closed this fall one, remained open. In Williston VT, just outside Burlington resides Catamount Golf Club. They run a food service out of the building so they’re there year round. They will let you play golf ifthere’s no snow on the ground. two weeks ago they went to tempory greens which still works fine if you want to continue playing. Last Sat. Dec. 4th was the last round (for now). There was an inch or two of snow but they let us play. The ground was now a little frozen so the ball started to run the fairways more like summer so the distance was coming back. I used a yellow ball and my friend used an orange one. Except for the ball he sank into the pond we didn’t lose any balls all day thanks to the snow. We found you could putt through the snow with a little extra gas and installed a rule of grooming if you were 10 feet of the cup. It was an awesome day (27 out). We also pulled 45 balls out of the drink. I then looked up an article on line about the theory of balls losing distance the longer they’re in the water so the value might just be driving range/practice balls. Any comments to that?
