{"id":4388,"date":"2014-07-07T07:00:26","date_gmt":"2014-07-07T11:00:26","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/golfstinks.com\/blog\/?p=4388"},"modified":"2014-07-07T15:28:41","modified_gmt":"2014-07-07T19:28:41","slug":"when-a-golf-course-isnt-used-for-golf","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/golfstinks.com\/blog\/2014\/07\/when-a-golf-course-isnt-used-for-golf.html","title":{"rendered":"When A Golf Course Isn&#8217;t Used For Golf"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-4389\" src=\"http:\/\/golfstinks.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/th.jpg\" alt=\"th\" width=\"209\" height=\"300\" \/>Growing up, my hometown had three golf courses.\u00a0 One was a pretty, but tough, eighteen hole course.\u00a0 Another was an easier and inexpensive, but always well manicured, nine-hole course.\u00a0 And last but not least, was a horribly maintained, bombed-out, <a href=\"http:\/\/golfstinks.com\/blog\/average-hack-golf-glossary#mofo\">mortar range<\/a> of a nine-hole course which, I&#8217;m sure due to the low cost of greens fees, convenience and familiarity, was very popular with the seniors and some kids just learning the game.\u00a0 I played there once and still consider it to be some of the worst money I&#8217;ve ever spent.<\/p>\n<p>But part of what made that particular course just awful was the fact that there\u00a0were alternate uses for the course outside\u00a0of golf.\u00a0 For instance, if I remember correctly, one of the\u00a0local schools used part of the course for soccer practice.\u00a0 Soccer practice!\u00a0 A bunch of teenagers running around the course with cleats!<\/p>\n<p>However, around this time of year, I&#8217;m remembering the main alternate use for the course\u00a0&#8211;
