\"Golf_caddy\"<\/a>As a golfer, I know how\u00a0the game\u00a0can look to a non-golfer: Boring.\u00a0 I’ve heard it time and again from my non-golfing friends.\u00a0 They wonder how I can chase a little ball around the course all day.\u00a0 Of course, they’re just watching the game on TV.\u00a0 Hey, I’m bored by that also.\u00a0 I don’t\u00a0watch golf on TV either.\u00a0 I’d rather just go out and play myself.\u00a0 But what if you are a golfer and\u00a0the game seems to be getting a little stale to you?\u00a0 Maybe you need a few things to spice\u00a0your game up a bit.\u00a0 Why not give a couple of these a try?<\/p>\n

1. Put a little money on it – <\/strong>Nothing makes a game a little more interesting than a friendly wager.\u00a0 Maybe you throw down a few bucks on the round?\u00a0 Maybe you’re feeling a little more daring and you go a few bucks\u00a0per hole?\u00a0 Maybe not…so you play instead for a round at the 19th hole.\u00a0 No matter what you play for, there’s no questions that a golf bet<\/a>\u00a0makes your round\u00a0much more interesting.<\/p>\n

2. Play a game other than your normal 9 or 18 – <\/strong>Most of us golfers go out and simply play our normal game with routine scoring.\u00a0 Is that getting a little tired?\u00a0 Especially if one guy in your regular foursome is constantly beating\u00a0the rest of you?\u00a0 Try a little something different – play a different game.\u00a0 How about a skins game?\u00a0 Or maybe you could play a round of\u00a0best ball?\u00a0 Maybe you just want to stick to your regular game, but your tired of your buddy wiping the floor with the rest of your foursome.\u00a0 Why not take your handicap into account?\u00a0 After all, getting beat every time you play can certainly suck the wind out of your sails.\u00a0 Leveling the playing field a bit certainly makes the game more fun for all.<\/p>\n

3. Ride the new guy –<\/strong> Call me a jerk, but I find it quite entertaining to poke a little fun at the new guy as he stumbles through his first time doing, well.., just about anything really.\u00a0 So why not incorporate that into your round?\u00a0 Think about it – you’ll be doing the game a service by introducing it to someone\u00a0new.\u00a0\u00a0But at the same time, you’ll be laughing your way through the round as your new golfing buddy learns the rules, both of the game and of etiquette.\u00a0 He or she will leave their bag on the wrong side of the green, forget their putter in the cart or have to play\u00a0the rest of the hole with their pants around their ankles for not reaching the women’s tee on their drive.\u00a0 OK….maybe not that one or your round might be over much earlier than anticipated.\u00a0 But you get what I mean…<\/p>\n

4. Leave some clubs in the trunk – <\/strong>Want to try a little something different out there?\u00a0 Play with only half of your clubs.\u00a0\u00a0It’s a little something my stinky golfing buddies and I have tried a\u00a0couple of\u00a0times.\u00a0 Granted, it’s a game better suited for a short\u00a0or executive course, but fun nonetheless.\u00a0 Choose either five or seven clubs, plus your putter, and see what you can do.\u00a0 The fun starts when you have to decide which clubs\u00a0you choose to exclude.\u00a0\u00a0Wait until you get to that first time you would use your six-iron, only to find out you didn’t bring\u00a0it along.\u00a0 Fun?\u00a0 Well, I can understand how that might be questionable.\u00a0 Good luck!<\/p>\n

5.\u00a0Step outside of your comfort zone<\/strong>\u00a0–<\/strong> Are you the type who plays the same course or two all the time?\u00a0 If so, then you are severely missing out.\u00a0 Half the fun of golf\u00a0is the variety that it offers from course to course.\u00a0\u00a0Do you play a\u00a0muni on a regular basis?\u00a0 Well once a year or so, go\u00a0treat yourself to\u00a0a higher-end course.\u00a0 Maybe go try out a par-3 or executive course.\u00a0 Ever play\u00a0golf at night<\/a>?\u00a0\u00a0Now there’s something different.\u00a0 In golf, different is fun!\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

Look, if you’re not on the course to have fun, then either you’re a\u00a0PGA pro, or you’re doing it wrong.\u00a0 It’s become our mantra here at GolfStinks – Golf is a game, you should have fun\u00a0playing it.\u00a0\u00a0If you take the game too seriously and get angry when you don’t play well, you need a change in your mindset.\u00a0 Let me help – The sooner you accept that you will never be a pro golfer, the sooner you will begin having fun.\u00a0\u00a0The sooner you accept that you stink at this game, the sooner you’ll have fun playing it.\u00a0 If you’re that type of golfer who gets angry at every poor shot, slams\u00a0your club\u00a0into the ground or tosses it into a lake…you need\u00a0to rethink\u00a0the reason you’re out there.\u00a0 Not\u00a0only are you not having fun, but you’re ruining it for the people who are playing with you and around you.<\/p>\n

Again, it’s a game.\u00a0 It should be fun.\u00a0 If it’s getting stale to you, then maybe you need to switch it up a bit.\u00a0 Put a little wager into your round.\u00a0 Play something other than your standard scoring.\u00a0 Introduce someone new to the game.\u00a0 In the end, just do what it takes to make sure you keep giving yourself a reason to be out on the course.\u00a0 And for crying out loud, have fun!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
