It’s no secret that golf training aids are not really our thing here at GolfStinks.\u00a0 Most of the products we see are more or less laughed off.\u00a0 Let’s be honest, there are some absolutely ridiculous things out there that are passed off as “training aids.”\u00a0 Things that attach to your body to make you look like some type of a cyborg.\u00a0 Products that are so big that they are almost impossible to use indoors, even though that’s\u00a0their intended use.\u00a0 Or some products that\u00a0you can see almost no benefit whatsoever.\u00a0 We’ve seen it all at this point.<\/p>\n

Some of the products we do appreciate\u00a0though are along the lines of the simple stuff.\u00a0\u00a0Products that aren’t confusing.\u00a0 Things that are easy to use\u00a0and don’t include\u00a0an instruction book the size of\u00a0your new car’s owners manual.\u00a0 Contraptions that don’t require me to sign up for a yoga class in order to use.\u00a0 Simple, easy to use and somewhat helpful is what we’re looking for.\u00a0 One such product is\u00a0The Swing Boss<\/a>.\u00a0 The Swing Boss fits all of the above criteria.\u00a0 It’s essentially a miniature driving range mat, a couple of\u00a0foam golf balls and some Velcro.\u00a0 You can’t get much simpler than that, right?<\/p>\n

In effect,\u00a0The Swing Boss’ main purpose is to help you hit the sweet spot on your club and let you know when you’ve done so.\u00a0 Everything else touted, to me anyway,\u00a0is up for interpretation.\u00a0\u00a0But it’s main purpose is executed very well.\u00a0 By simply sticking one side of the Velcro to your club\u00a0face and swinging at the foam ball with the other side of the Velcro already attached, the ball sticks to the face telling you exactly where your club struck the ball.\u00a0 Hit it too close to the heel or toe of the club, it’ll tell you.\u00a0 Hit it dead center, that’s where it sticks.\u00a0 Mis-hit it,\u00a0the ball doesn’t stick and instead slices off to\u00a0harmlessly ricochet off your kitchen counter – no harm done.<\/p>\n

All around, The Swing Boss is a useful tool for the sweet spot finder as noted above.\u00a0 However, it’s also an ideal tool for working on your swing, particularly indoors during the off-season – like now.\u00a0 It’s an alternative to spending the money at the driving\u00a0range or indoor range, and\u00a0being able to use it indoors during the cold winter months is just an added bonus.<\/p>\n
