Well, I’ve said it a few times, and it remains true – Life gets in the way of golf.\u00a0 This time, it’s Mother’s Day.\u00a0 Now, please understand, I am in no way advocating blowing off your mom to go sneak in nine, or even eighteen holes.\u00a0 I certainly didn’t, nor would I.\u00a0 I’m just using it as an\u00a0example to prove my point – there’s always something to pull you away from the course.\u00a0 But maybe I’ve come up with a bit of a solution.\u00a0 Maybe the trick simply is\u00a0– If you can’t beat ’em, make ’em join you.<\/p>\n
I remember when I was just a kid that my mother and father both had a set of golf clubs, but I never saw either of them actually go out to a course and play a round.\u00a0 I once asked and they both said they gave it a try, but they just didn’t really care for the game.\u00a0 So the clubs just hung from\u00a0a wall in the garage for years until\u00a0my mother finally sold them at a\u00a0yard sale.\u00a0 But maybe the time has come where\u00a0I can try to get her to give it another try?\u00a0 After all, she’s been retired for\u00a0several years and is still pretty active.\u00a0 A relaxing sport like golf, carts and all, may be worth a second look.<\/p>\n
Ok…I think it’s clear what I’m doing here.\u00a0 I have an ulterior motive and I’m probably\u00a0not doing a very good job of hiding it.\u00a0 As a matter of fact, I’m sure I’ve fooled no one.\u00a0 Look, it’s not that I don’t want to celebrate Mother’s\u00a0Day with my mom.\u00a0 It’s not that I don’t want to\u00a0gather\u00a0with my family for brunch.\u00a0 I love doing these things!\u00a0 But you know what else I love doing?\u00a0 Golfing on a glorious, cloudless, 78 degree, spring day.\u00a0 See what I’m saying?<\/p>\n
I’m thinking\u00a0that if I can convince her to take up golf again, then I can spend time with her on Mother’s Day, still have that brunch that I love and get out on the course without feeing guilty.\u00a0 How could I feel guilty if she’s right there with me?\u00a0 Does this sound shady?\u00a0 I have to admit, it does a little bit…even to me.\u00a0 But on the other hand….you’re just jealous that\u00a0I thought of it first.<\/p>\n
