{"id":3415,"date":"2013-12-30T07:00:56","date_gmt":"2013-12-30T12:00:56","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/golfstinks.com\/blog\/?p=3415"},"modified":"2018-12-31T12:53:15","modified_gmt":"2018-12-31T17:53:15","slug":"new-years-golf-resolutions-i-will-likely-ignore","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/golfstinks.com\/blog\/2013\/12\/new-years-golf-resolutions-i-will-likely-ignore.html","title":{"rendered":"New Year&#8217;s Golf Resolutions I Will Likely Ignore"},"content":{"rendered":"<figure id=\"attachment_8152\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-8152\" style=\"width: 640px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/pixabay.com\/en\/new-year-s-eve-2017-christmas-1911318\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-8152 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/golfstinks.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/12\/new-years-eve-1911318_640.jpg\" alt=\"What New Year's golf resolutions will you make?\" width=\"640\" height=\"426\" srcset=\"http:\/\/golfstinks.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/12\/new-years-eve-1911318_640.jpg 640w, http:\/\/golfstinks.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/12\/new-years-eve-1911318_640-300x200.jpg 300w, http:\/\/golfstinks.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/12\/new-years-eve-1911318_640-600x399.jpg 600w, http:\/\/golfstinks.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/12\/new-years-eve-1911318_640-150x100.jpg 150w, http:\/\/golfstinks.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/12\/new-years-eve-1911318_640-350x233.jpg 350w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-8152\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">What New Year&#8217;s golf resolutions will you make?<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>It seems it never fails.\u00a0 Every year I make a few golf-related New Year&#8217;s resolutions.\u00a0 But when the time comes around to collect on them&#8230;I&#8217;ve done nothing about it.\u00a0 I let myself down every year.<\/p>\n<p>But, at the risk of doing the same thing once again, I&#8217;m still going to make some resolutions anyway.\u00a0 Yes, I know&#8230;they&#8217;re pointless.\u00a0 But I feel like I&#8217;d be doing myself a disservice if I didn&#8217;t\u00a0make them.\u00a0 So with that in mind, here goes&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>The one I make most often is simply to play more.\u00a0 Somehow, this is just always out of my control.\u00a0 I try to make the time to play more often, but something is always getting in the way.\u00a0 Be it work, family commitments, kids sports&#8230;whatever.\u00a0 It&#8217;s like there&#8217;s always something going on.<\/p>\n<p>But, I&#8217;ll still try to make the effort.\u00a0 After all, if I can&#8217;t find a few hours out of every week or two, then obviously I need some help with my time-management skills.<\/p>\n<p>Secondly, I resolve to purchase a new driver.\u00a0 I once spent a good amount of money on a nice Callaway driver.\u00a0 For a couple of seasons I was in love with it and hit it a ton.\u00a0\u00a0But then, one year out of the blue, I lost the feel for it.\u00a0 I could rarely hit it straight and every time I touched it, everything just felt wrong.\u00a0 So after dealing with that for a season or two&#8230;.it went to eBay.\u00a0 I haven&#8217;t used a driver since.\u00a0 Depending upon the hole, I&#8217;ll tee of with a 3 or 5-wood.\u00a0\u00a0I realize\u00a0this is a problem, so I&#8217;m going to do something about it&#8230;maybe.<\/p>\n<p>Thirdly, and this is a new one.., I&#8217;m going to try to introduce someone to the game.\u00a0 I&#8217;ve been working on a\u00a0couple of people &#8211; one to give it a try,\u00a0the other a former golfer to take it up again.\u00a0 But I&#8217;m not trying to bring people to the game by teaching them the rules or telling them they need to practice, practice, practice.\u00a0 I&#8217;m trying to explain that it&#8217;s a fun game and they should look at it from that standpoint.\u00a0 Not like it&#8217;s something they have to constantly work at.\u00a0 To me, that&#8217;s the wrong approach.<\/p>\n<p>So only three.\u00a0 All seem relatively attainable, right?\u00a0 Of course there&#8217;s no guarantee I will follow through on them.\u00a0 But this time of year\u00a0is about making the resolutions.\u00a0 The rest of the year is for follow-through.\u00a0 So check with me\u00a0again\u00a0next December to see how things went.<\/p>\n<p>Swing &#8217;til you&#8217;re happy!<\/p>\n<!-- AddThis Advanced Settings generic via filter on the_content --><!-- AddThis Share Buttons generic via filter on the_content -->","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>It seems it never fails.\u00a0 Every year I make a few golf-related New Year&#8217;s resolutions.\u00a0 But when the time comes around to collect on them&#8230;I&#8217;ve done nothing about it.\u00a0 I let myself down every year.
