Is it just me, or do all of us golfers look at holidays a little bit differently than everyone else?\u00a0 For instance, many people look at Memorial Day or Independence Day as a day for\u00a0get-togethers with friends and family..,\u00a0cookouts, parties and fireworks.\u00a0 Many look at Christmas as a time of giving, sharing and, again, gathering with family.\u00a0 Golfers look at these days and times this way\u00a0too.\u00a0 However, they look at it other ways as well.<\/p>\n
For starters, any holiday that gives us a day off from work is instantly thought of as an opportunity to play golf.\u00a0 Sure, a Memorial Day cookout or Fourth of July party are great!\u00a0 But maybe we could squeeze at least nine holes in before the party starts, right?\u00a0 And being that this is\u00a0Labor Day weekend, what do you think was the first idea that came to mind for having\u00a0Monday off?\u00a0 Obviously, golf.\u00a0 This weekend however, was quickly shut down by the wife due to my choosing to attend a baseball game on Sunday.\u00a0 Now, some yard work is on the docket for Monday.\u00a0 Yard work…it gets you every time.<\/p>\n
When Christmas time rolls around here in the northeast, obviously, playing golf is not\u00a0an option for the next few months, at least.\u00a0 So our attention shifts from playing golf to preparing to play golf.\u00a0 What does this mean?\u00a0 It means we ask for gifts pertaining to golf.\u00a0 Forget the things we\u00a0need.\u00a0 We want golf gear.\u00a0 We put together\u00a0Christmas lists all related to golf.\u00a0 We\u00a0want….no…we need\u00a0a new putter.\u00a0 We need a new driver.\u00a0 We need a new pair of\u00a0golf shoes.\u00a0 See what I’m getting at?<\/p>\n
We golfers love to spend time with our families.\u00a0 We love to have a get together, a party or cookout\u00a0and spend time\u00a0with others.\u00a0\u00a0We just hope that part of that holiday\u00a0off from\u00a0work includes golf.\u00a0 We love non-golfers.\u00a0 We just have a\u00a0little different\u00a0way of showing it.<\/p>\n
